Cinco De Mayo In New York City
EDITORIAL CRAWL
by JoshMapfaced
On May 5, 1862 the Mexican Army routed the French forces in the Battle of Puebla. Cinco De Mayo commemorates that not-so-historic victory (really, who hasn't defeated the French?). Nearly 150 years later the holiday has morphed into a Great American Drink Off, a Mexican St. Patrick's Day if you will. There are hundreds of places you can celebrate Cinco in NYC, and it's hard to go wrong, but these spots promise a party a step above the rest.
