What Is A Crawl?
A crawl is a collection of points on a map. Think of a pub crawl. Put that on top of a Google map.
What Is The Difference Between A Linear And A Non-Linear Crawl?
A linear crawl is an ordered itinerary: Go to venue a, then venue b, then venue c. Click for an example.
A non-linear crawl is a collection of venues presented on a single map. Click for an example.
Who Creates The Maps?
We all do. Mapfaced produces expert editorial maps, and at the same time allows you to create your own maps.
How Can I Tell If A Map Is An Editorial Map?
The map will be labeled Editorial
What Type Of Crawls Are On Mapfaced?
Mapfaced crawls are divided into two sections: Drink and Eat. Drink crawls are nightlife crawls (bars, clubs, concert halls, and perhaps a restaurant to start the evening). Eat crawls are eating crawls (restaurants, delis, shops, street carts, and wherever else food is served or sold). Mapfaced Eat will be opening Late Spring/Early Summer 2008.
Where Is Mapfaced Available?
Right now Mapfaced covers Manhattan and most of Brooklyn. Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx are coming soon. Other cities will follow.
Can I Use Mapfaced On My Phone?
Not yet. A mobile edition of Mapfaced should be ready soon
Creating Crawls
How Do I Edit A Crawl That I Made?
On you’re ‘My Account’ page you will find a list of all the crawls that you have created. Click ‘edit crawl’ to edit any of your crawls.
How Can I Put My Crawls On Blog/MySpace/Website?
We will offer widgetized versions of all maps (including user created maps) very, very soon.
Can I Add A Venue That Is Not On Mapfaced?
Yes. During the crawl creation process you can add a venue if you can’t find it in our database.
What Does Unverified Mean?
Unverified means that a venue has been added by one of our users and has not yet been verified by our editorial team.
